About the service

The tattoo aftercare Malvern clients should start with

A new tattoo is an open wound for the first days. How you treat it decides how well the ink settles. At The KCHN Tattoos, your artist explains aftercare before you leave and gives you written steps for your piece. Our full tattoo aftercare Scarborough guide goes week by week.

Most of our Malvern clients follow a simple routine. Wash gently with clean hands, lukewarm water and a fragrance-free cleanser. Pat dry with a paper towel. Apply a very thin layer of fragrance-free moisturizer two to three times a day. Wear loose, clean clothing over the tattoo.

Large or heavily shaded pieces, like our realism tattoo sleeves, take longer to heal than small linework. Your artist will tell you what to expect for your exact piece.

What to expect

Tattoo healing tips Malvern clients ask about most

These are the questions we hear most after a session. Follow them and your tattoo has the best chance to heal clean.

01

First days

Redness, mild swelling and some weeping are normal in the first few days. Keep the tattoo clean and follow your artist’s wrap instructions.

02

Tattoo aftercare products

Choose fragrance-free, alcohol-free formulas. Ingredients like ceramides, panthenol and aloe are gentle. Our guide to aftercare products for sensitive skin goes deeper.

03

Peeling and itching

Flakes tinted with ink start to lift after a few days. It will itch. Tap or press the skin, but never scratch or pick.

04

Water and sun

Showers are fine, but skip baths, pools and hot tubs until the surface closes. Keep the tattoo out of direct sun while it heals.

05

Healing time

The surface usually heals in two to four weeks. Deeper healing continues for a few more weeks after that.

06

When to get help

Spreading redness, pus, a bad smell or fever need attention. See a healthcare professional, and read our post on tattoo infection signs.
